Regional Civil Society and Community Support, Communication and Coordination Platform in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (Regional Platform EECA)

In December 2017 the Eurasian Harm Reduction Association (EHRA) was selected a host of the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA).

The regional platforms for communication and coordination are expected to have a key role in engaging civil society organizations and community networks in Global Fund processes. They are responsible to foster regional dialogue, exchange knowledge and good practices among civil society actors and networks, as well as to disseminating information on technical assistance opportunities across civil society and community groups across all countries where the Global Fund has grants and/or countries under Global Fund multi-country grants.

  • The meaningful engagement of civil society and community groups through regular bi-directional communication and provision of accurate and accessible information to enhance the knowledge and participation of these actors in Global Fund related processes.
  • Improve the overall impact of Global Fund programs and interventions, and disease responses more globally through strengthened engagement of civil society and communities affected by HIV and tuberculosis.
  • Expand access to technical assistance for civil society and community groups through greater coordination with the CRG Strategic Initiative short-term TA component, as well as key national, regional and global technical assistance partners.
  • Support strategic civil society and community capacity development initiatives through fostering spaces for engagement and collective participation in key decision-making processes, in particular as they relate to community, rights and gender

Brief summary of the progress by the end of 2018:

  • 159 publications in English and Russian posted on Platform’s website;
  • 376 posts made in social networks (Facebook, Twitter) on behalf of the Platform;
  • 125 thematic e-mails send through different listservs with a target audience of about 2500 people altogether;
  • 8 webinars on CRG TA and other GF related issues were conducted with a total audience of 101 participants;
  • 8 face-to-face sessions on GF CRG TA Program conducted with up to 150 participants being covered in total;
  • 2 national workshops on sustainability and transition issues conducted in Azerbaijan and Tajikistan with 57 participants being covered;
  • 2 Info Notes on technical support related issues being developed;
  • 11 coordination calls of the regional community networks and other key partners organized;
  • 6 requests for TA within GF CRG TA Program were developed and submitted from the region with support of the Platform (3 approved);

Brief summary of the progress by the end of 2019:

First half year

  • 60 publications in English and Russian posted on the Platform’s website.
  • 212 posts\tweets made in social networks (Facebook, Twitter) on behalf of the Platform.
  • 69 thematic e-mails send through different listservs with a target audience of about 2500 people altogether
  • 5 webinars conducted \ co-organized with a total audience of 105 participants.
  • 2 face-to-face and 1 online session on GF CRG TA Program conducted with 45 participants being covered in total.
  • 1 session was attended with a presentation on the Global Fund related issues at the International Harm Reduction Conference with a total audience of about 40 participants.
  • 1 national workshop on sustainability and transition issues conducted in Romania with 37 participants.
  • 1 Info Note on 4 Delegations to the Global Fund Board being developed (ENG and RUS).
  • 1 regional event on CCM issues conducted in Kazakhstan with 45 participants.
  • 5 coordination calls of the regional community networks and other key partners organized.
  • 4 new requests for TA within GF CRG TA Program were submitted from the region with support of the Platform.

  • 52 publications in English and Russian posted on the Platform’s website.
  • 266 posts\tweets made on social networks (Facebook, Twitter) on behalf of the Platform.
  • 64 thematic e-mails sent through different listservs with a target audience of about 2,500 people altogether.
  • 3 webinars conducted \ co-organised with a total audience of 61 participants from 9 EECA countries.
  • 1 online session on the GF CRG TA Programme conducted with a total of 12 participants.
  • 1 national workshop on sustainability and transition issues conducted in Albania with 20 participants.
  • 1 Info Note with an overview of the availability of the HIV \ TB-related technical support available for civil society in the EECA region under development (ENG and RUS).
  • 1 case study was developed, capturing the challenges of the Global Fund transition in Albania.
  • 1 regional event on GF CRG TA issues conducted in Moldova with 23 participants.
  • 3 coordination calls organised of the regional community networks and other key EECA partners.
